Greene Espel represents healthcare provider investigated for marrying former client

Greene Espel attorney Mark Johnson has teamed with the American Civil Liberties Union to represent a healthcare provider threatened with discipline by for having a sexual relationship with a former client — her own husband. As the ACLU reports in this press release, after a three-year investigation she was ordered not to have sex with any 'former client' and to pay a civil penalty. Shortly before she was to petition for judicial review of this decision, the agency rescinded its order — stating that the facts of the case "clearly do not constitute the egregious mischief or exploitation that the legislature sought to protect the public from" when it enacted the statute in question.
