Greene Espel attorney Matt Forsgren, speaking on behalf of The Advocates for Human Rights, presented a statement on March 21, 2017, to the Human Rights Council of the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland. Matt was a pro bono participant in The Advocates for Human Rights' UN Study Advocacy Tour, which volunteers travel to Geneva and conducts advocacy before the United Nations.

The statement concerned current human rights issues in Haiti now subject to monitoring by an Independent Expert appointed by the UN. Matt drew attention to the Independent Expert's report, emphasizing issues of gender equality, discrimination against women and girls, and children's rights. He urged technical cooperation to address violence against women by working with NGOs, such as The Advocates. He also highlighted the work of The Sanneh Foundation, a Minneapolis-St. Paul organization that aims to improve the condition of children in Haiti through soccer.

In his practice, Matt represents clients in civil, administrative, and criminal proceedings and investigations around the world. He currently serves on the board of directors for The Advocates for Human Rights.
