Litigation Paralegal

Greene Espel PLLP, a top-notch litigation boutique located in downtown Minneapolis, has an opportunity for an experienced litigation paralegal. A litigation paralegal provides support to attorneys during various stages of the litigation process, including investigation, discovery, trial preparation, and post-trial activities.

Key responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

Case Organization

  • Organize and maintain case files, including pleadings, correspondence, discovery documents, and exhibits.
  • Assist in developing case strategies and timelines.
  • Coordinate with attorneys and legal teams to ensure deadlines are met.

Legal Brief Assistance:

  • Draft declarations and statements of fact.
  • Complete fact cite checking.
  • Organize exhibits.

Discovery Assistance

  • Assist in drafting and responding to discovery requests, including interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission.
  • Review and analyze documents produced during discovery for relevance and privilege.
  • Prepare and organize documents for production to opposing parties.
  • Identifying and organizing exhibits for depositions.
  • Identify documents that might be used to prepare witnesses for depositions.
  • Prepare private logs.

Trial Preparation

  • Assist in preparing trial exhibits, witness lists, and trial binders.
  • Coordinate with witnesses and experts to schedule depositions and trial appearances.
  • Assist attorneys during trial proceedings, including courtroom setup, exhibit management, and note-taking.

Document Management

  • Maintain electronic and physical document repositories in compliance with legal and procedural requirements.
  • Implement document retention policies and procedures.
  • Use document management software to organize, search, and retrieve case-related information.

Client Communication

  • Communicate with clients, witnesses, and other parties to gather information and schedule meetings.
  • Maintain regular contact with clients to provide case updates and obtain necessary information.
  • Assist in preparing clients for depositions, hearings, and trials.

Administrative Tasks

  • Assist in preparing and reviewing correspondence, pleadings, and motions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and/or paralegal certification.
  • Minimum of eight years of litigation paralegal experience in a law firm or corporate legal department
  • Strong knowledge of litigation procedures, legal terminology, and court rules.
  • Proficiency in legal research using online databases and resources.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to execute various tasks carefully and completely under pressure of multiple deadlines.
  • Enthusiasm, responsiveness, and focus on excellent performance.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with emphasis on mutual respect, trust, and collaboration
  • Relentless attention to detail, deadlines, and cheerful reminders
  • Excellent organizational and project-management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and legal software applications.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
