Greene Espel attorney Sybil Dunlop will be a featured speaker on two topics at the upcoming "Practice Well: Health and Resilience for Lawyers" seminar hosted by the Minnesota CLE.
Sessions:
- “Thinking, Fast and Slow”: 3 Takeaways for Lawyers
Nobel Prize winner Daniel Kahneman’s best-selling book, Thinking, Fast and Slow, explores our two modes of thought: “System 1” is fast, instinctive, and emotional; “System 2” is more calculating and logical. These systems impact how we make decisions and how we often fail to think rationally. But when you understand how humans actually make decisions, you can identify ways to be a better strategic thinker, brief writer, and oral advocate. In this session, Sybil will consolidate three big takeaways for you to consider and use going forward.
- Thrive: How to Find Joy in Your Legal Practice
Drawing from diverse sources including Plato, Homer, Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, and Gretchen Rubin, Sybil explores what it means to be a happy lawyer and what science suggests we need to do to improve our happiness.
In her practice, Sybil helps clients resolve complex commercial and intellectual property disputes. Beyond her practice, she has written and presented nationally on the topic of implicit bias, as well as legal writing and federal practice. She offers her thoughts about the practice of law in a monthly column for Minnesota Lawyer entitled Sybil Procedure and hosts a recurring webcast series for Minnesota CLE.
