Best Lawyers compiles its annual recognition by a comprehensive peer review survey which is designed to capture the consensus opinion of leading lawyers about the professional abilities of their colleagues within the same geographical area and legal practice area.

Each year, Minnesota Lawyer selects a small group of attorneys in their first ten years of practice who distinguish themselves through their professional accomplishments, leadership, and service to the community.

The Empowering Women awards shine a light on companies and organizations that have demonstrated tangible efforts and documented results in supporting and elevating women in business across Minnesota.

Only a small percentage of attorneys in each state are named each year to these annual lists—no more than 5 percent to the Super Lawyers list and no more than 2.5 percent to the Rising Stars list.

Through the Amicus Service Award, IMLA seeks to recognize the lawyers who have been actively involved in legal advocacy for and on behalf of local governments and IMLA, and who have done exemplary work to protect and advance local government interests.

The firm has been ranked in the first tier in Minneapolis – the highest ranking available in each city – in nine practice areas.

This year’s recognition highlights the firm’s “widely respected litigation group able to provide expertise across a range of commercial disputes, including both class actions and single-plaintiff claims.” 

Chambers rankings are the result of in-depth market analysis and independent research conducted by an experienced team of researchers.

Now in its third year, the ICON Awards pay tribute to the titans of the boardroom and the courtroom, recognizing individuals with proven success throughout a lengthy and accomplished career.

The annual Outstanding Associate Member Award recognizes one lawyer who is a leader in legal advocacy for and on behalf of local governments, has done exemplary work to protect and advance local government interests, and contributes to the mission of IMLA.

In litigation now pending before the Minnesota Supreme Court, the state's solicitor general has argued for the elimination of the quo warranto writ—a common law cause of action to force a government agency to identify the authority for its official actions.
