Litigation boutique Greene Espel PLLP is pleased to welcome attorneys Amran Farah and Davida Williams to its team of litigators, counselors, and investigators.

Immediately prior to joining Greene Espel, Amran clerked for Judge Franklin L. Noel of the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota.  Amran also clerked for Judge Pamela G. Alexander of the Hennepin County District Court and served as a judicial extern for Chief Judge Michael J. Davis of the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota. Currently, Amran teaches Civil Dispute Resolution as an Adjunct Professor at Mitchell Hamline School of law. Amran previously worked at the Waldeck Law Firm in Minneapolis where she provided legal services to clients in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and North Dakota in insurance defense matters including construction law, product liability, and employment law.

Amran is a 2013 graduate of Hamline University School of Law (magna cum laude) where she was a member of the Hamline Law Review, and the Giles Rich Intellectual Property Moot Court. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Saint Thomas in Political Science and English. She serves as the current president of Minnesota Association of Black Lawyers, and is the Past President of the Somali American Bar Association. Amran is fluent in Somali.

Davida joins the firm after serving as a law clerk to Judge Patrick J. Schiltz of the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota. Before clerking, Davida worked in the New York office of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP where she specialized in complex litigation, including class actions and antitrust and government enforcement actions. As part of her pro bono practice, she filed amicus briefs for clients in state and federal courts, including the Supreme Court. Davida has also worked in several legal-services roles, including as a legal intern for the Campaign Legal Center in Washington, D.C., and as a clinical intern for the Criminal Appeals Division of the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office.  Before entering the legal sector, Davida taught 5th- and 6th-grade special education at Boston Collegiate Charter School through Teach for America.

Davida is a 2015 graduate of Harvard Law School where she served as a research assistant, the Internal Vice President of the Harvard Black Law Students Association, and the Executive Editor of the Harvard Journal on Racial and Ethnic Justice. Davida earned her undergraduate degree from Yale University in Political Science and African American Studies and her master’s degree from Boston University in Curriculum and Teaching.
